Basic Info
Name:Maria Traydor (AU)
Bio

CHARACTER.
NAME; Maria Traydor
FANDOM; Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
ORIGINAL OR ALTERNATE; Alternate
AGE; 19
GENDER; Female
SPECIES; Human/Earthling
SEXUALITY; Heterosexual
HOUSING; Vri-Pente Ci-Okto
IN-DEPTH.
APPEARANCE; Maria looks like just another ordinary girl. She's young, pretty and of average build, standing at 5'3" and weighing 104 pounds. She has long, blue hair that reaches her waist, and matching blue eyes. Upon her arrival in Econtra, she's wearing a brown tank top, a black long-sleeved leather bolero jacket, a short black leather skirt, a pair of gloves and black high-cut leather boots. Strapped around her waist is a utility belt with a holster for her gun. [X]

PERSONALITY; Maria is a take-charge person. She has such a clear vision of the way that things should be that she naturally steps into leadership roles. She is self-confident and aggressive, and puts forth a tremendous amount of effort to meet her obligations and duties. However, sometimes she is also very demanding, critical and controlling. She has a high regard for traditions and institutions and has strongly-held beliefs and ideals, and is likely to express herself without reserve if she feels that someone isn't meeting her standards. She is straightforward and honest, but oftentimes to the point of being rather blunt.

ABILITIES/STRENGTHS; Maria is a born leader, the voice of reason in most situations. She's not personally threatened by conflict or criticism, and is interested in resolving conflict rather than ignoring it. She's dependable and committed, and is able to administer discipline when necessary.

In battle, she fights from a distance with a gun, or short range by kicking. She'd been trained by Mirage and she learned some of her martial arts techniques. Additionally, her power of Alteration manifests as support symbology that can improve other characters' strength, defense, and general abilities.

WEAKNESSES; Maria has the tendency to be too rigid and to become overly detail-oriented. When bogged down by stress, she often isolates herself from others, because although she is very verbal and doesn't have any problem expressing herself, when under stress she has a hard time putting her feelings into words and communicating them to others. She's generally uncomfortable with change and moving into new territories, thus explaining her breakdown after having learned of the true nature of her universe and the fact that she wasn't originally 'real'.

Despite having been trained in martial arts, she physically isn't very strong. She has also been unable to fully control her power of Alteration.

NOTABLE POSSESSIONS; A microblaster. She had a comlink, but it was replaced by the standard PDA upon her arrival.
HISTORY.
In a nutshell, this Maria is from an AU where she and Fayt are twins, born via artificial means, although neither of them is aware of the fact. The idea was spawned by the conversation between Maria, Fayt and Robert at the Kirlsa Training Facility shortly before the latter's death. The other deviation in this AU is that Albel does not fail in the Ascension of the Flame ceremony.

The full length version follows.

Maria was an orphan adopted by Richard and Jessie Traydor. She lived on Federation Station #17 with her adoptive parents; her father was a Federation officer, while her mother was a research scientist working on the station. When she was twelve, however, the station was attacked by the forces of the Aldian Empire, and Richard was killed when the base's creation engine malfunctioned. Jessie and Maria managed to escape on a transport ship, the Radish, but the Aldian forces pursued and destroyed the ship as well.

Maria was the only survivor, having been forced into an escape pod by Jessie. She floated through space for ten days, until the spaceship Diplo crossed paths with her pod, and she was rescued by Cliff Fittir and Mirage Koas. They took her to Cliff's homeworld, Klaus III, and she eventually joined the anti-Federation organization Quark, which was most active in the Klaus system.

Four years after she joined Quark, the Diplo was attacked by the Federation battleship Invisible, as its commander, Brigadier General Schilling, had made it his mission to assassinate Cliff and therefore put an end to Quark's existence, as he was the organization's leader. Maria, however, used her previously unknown power of Alteration to literally delete the Invisible; she charged up the Diplo's torpedoes, and they tore through the Invisible's shields, destroying the ship. After that incident, everyone wanted her to become the leader of Quark.

Later on, she investigated the research facility where Jessie worked, to find out more about her birth. Among the things she discovered was a report of a terrifying experiment. Jessie, before her marriage to Richard, apparently worked in a symbological genetics research facility inside District 16 of Moonbase - the Leingod Research Facility. Jessie was one of the lab assistants of Dr. Robert Leingod, and Maria was one of his test subjects, scheduled for disposal. The other was Fayt, Robert's own son. Their genes had been encoded with Symbols; she was given the power of Alteration, allowing her to "charge up" objects and make them more powerful or even destroy them, while Fayt was given the power of Destruction. Unbeknownst to her at that point, there was actually a third test subject: Fayt's childhood friend Sophia Esteed, who was given the power of Connection.

Using her new position as Quark's leader, she decided to hunt down Dr. Leingod and find out why he experimented on her and Fayt. She sent Cliff and Mirage to retrieve Fayt after the Vendeeni attack on Hyda IV, then personally landed on Elicoor II after Fayt unleashed his power of Destruction on the Vendeeni battleship that had appeared. She aided Aquaria XXVII, the queen of Aquaria, in understanding the galactic politics she'd been thrust into, as well as in protecting the planet from the Vendeeni.

They were successful in defeating the Vendeeni in Elicoor, but they failed to rescue Dr. Leingod. He died as they attempted to free him from the hands of the Vendeeni, as he had shielded Fayt from an attack by a Vendeeni soldier, and his last words to his son were, "Go to Moonbase." Maria, intent on discovering the truth, set out for Moonbase immediately, determined to learn the answers to her questions even if she was to do so alone. But she wasn't alone; her friends decided to accompany her, even Albel Nox and Nel Zelpher, natives of Elicoor II.

Upon learning the truth about Dr. Leingod's plan at Moonbase - and that it was not to dominate the galaxy or use her as a Federation weapon - Maria used her power of Alteration to enable herself and the party to survive in 4-D space, as Dr. Leingod had intended. She helped defeat the Creator, Luther Lansfeld, and saved the Eternal Sphere from deletion, using her powers to allow their universe to exist as a separate reality. Nobody really understood how she was able to do that, but it wasn't important, just as long as everything was alright again.

They all returned to the Sphere, and life went on. However, just when they thought things were finally returning to normal - as normal as they could get, anyway - trouble started to brew again. The new Pangalactic Congress had deemed Fayt, Sophia and Maria to be too dangerous to be left alive, having defeated the Executioners bare-handed when even the Federation fleet couldn't handle them. Maria decided that it was best not to fight back and go into hiding instead to avoid attracting unwanted attention, and thus set out for Elicoor. After all, Elicoor II was an underdeveloped planet, and there was no way the Federation would send down their ships, not with the Underdeveloped Planet Preservation Pact in full force... right?

Maria transported down to Airyglyph alone. She'd sent Cliff and the rest of her crew to intercept and secure Fayt and Sophia, who were fleeing from Federation forces. She was terrified to discover, however, that Albel had gone missing, and that Duke Vox had taken over the Dragon Brigade and waged war against Aquaria. Labeled a traitor and a threat, Vox ordered her capture and execution, but she was able to escape with Nel's help and flee to Aquaria.

She anxiously waited for the Diplo to make contact with her, having made repeated distress calls but never receiving a reply. In the meantime, she helped Nel with the war effort and in investigating Albel's sudden disappearance. In time they found a lead, and Nel set off with her team to find him. Maria wanted to come along, but Nel insisted otherwise, saying that it would be safer for her to remain in Aquios.

And then one day, a ship landed on Aquios, and Maria found out that the Aquarians had sold her to the Federation. Suspecting an even larger, darker plot in the making, however, she simply allowed herself to be captured. They brought her into the ship and, despite having the ability to single-handedly destroy it, she quietly followed, calmly walking towards her prison.

She opened the door... and found herself standing in the middle of a small white room.
